The Tooling Engineer will own all aspects of die manufacturing engineering and the development process for assigned programs with minimal supervision. They must have a team work attitude.

 

Essential Functions:

  • The Tooling Engineer will prepare "tooling method plan" packages for quotation of new business proposals on an assigned projects.
  • They will provide tool follow-up for all new programs.
  • The Tooling Engineer will work closely with manufacturing, quality, and the production tooling group to ensure die build will meet their specific needs.
  • They will communicate tooling progress with vendors to make sure die delivery is on-time and within budget.
  • The Tooling Engineer will receive, review and disseminate supplier quotation packages.
  • They must have basic knowledge of materials and specifications for assigned projects as well as knowledge of assigned manufacturing facilities capabilities and limitations.
  • The Tooling Engineer will work closely with product design and manufacturing to support DFM&A concerns including GD&T at both the assembly and detail level.
  • They will maintain up-to-date:
    • Quote support documentation
    • Current die method plans
    • Manufacturing concern issues
  • They will execute Material Reduction initiatives.
  • The Tooling Engineer will be responsible for development of press set-up documents.
  • They will be responsible for working with EHS to ensure all safety protocols are being met/followed.
  • Some travel required to other Martinrea facilities, integrators, and tool shops to support tooling build, buy off and aid in the integration at the manufacturing facility up to and through program launch. 

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must have a BS Degree in engineering or minimum 5 years of related experience
  • Tooling experience required
  • Excellent English communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent organizational skills with dedication to quality
  • Knowledge in computer software for Windows, Auto-CAD or CAD equivalent
  • Knowledge of IATF and APQP processes
