Job Summary: Implement, Maintain, Trouble shoot, adjust, and electrical equipment while maintaining the quality of product with the least amount of disruption to production

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Post Secondary Education:
    • Electro-Mechanical Technician Diploma preferred
  • Provincial Certification 309A required
  • 5 7 years experience in similar role
  • Ability to work independently and draw from experience with minimal supervision
  • Ability to problem solve where issues vary considerably
  • Knowledge of Wintriss Press control systems, JIT control systems press, Omnilink press control systems, and Linear Transfer control systems

Essential Functions:

  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance of all electrical production equipment in order to improve up time while ensuring machines produce quality parts
  • Plans, layout, install and repair complex wiring circuits and distribution systems to the applicable codes
  • Install and maintain complex electrical and electronic components of varied equipment
  • Must be able to verify all essential electrical elements across complete factory floor
  • Must be able to interpret and complete missing drawings as per machine specifications and electrical codes
  • Ensure proper labelling of equipment and panels as required
  • Maintain up to date electrical schematics drawings and routine paperwork as required
  • Work from complex wiring drawings, code books and similar documents
  • Responsible for the housekeeping of work area, parts and equipment
  • Address safety related issues as it arises
  • Diagnose and remedy all electrical troubles and repair/replace all electrical apparatus as required
  • Occasionally perform work in other trade that you are qualified
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives on all aspects of the job
  • Quantitative Measurables:
    • 40 automated cells and stations, 15 presses
  • Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).
  • May be required to work weekends and/or overtime hours as per supervisor request
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

Work Environment:

  • 100% plant floor (PPE required)

Decision Making and Authority:

  • Decision Making:
    • Electrical Modifications to weld settings and press machinery
    • In what manner to make the repair or change
  • Recommendations:
    • Improvements for production output
  • Quantitative Measurables:
    • 40 automated cells and stations, 15 presses
    • 30/40 calls per day

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent requirement of handling heavy equipment (operation)
  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention to surroundings
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to work with push pull forces of up to 50lbs. or less

Health and Safety:

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
