Job Summary: 

The Senior Controls Engineer - Corporate reports to the Technical Director and is responsible to champion the development, design, build and implementation of safe, flexible, lean and highly competitive assembly electrical control systems with the lowest cost solution for the Metallics Business Unit.


Major Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement control solutions to achieve greatest productivity in integrated cells, relating to the production and quality assurance of parts, information systems and equipment documentation.
  • Coordinate technical engineering activities of project teams and/or execute technical tasks in the design, development, implementation, and documentation of process automation/control projects.
  • Develop, control and enforce corporate machine build standards with cross-functional teams.
  • Work with vendors to establish control strategies and automation details. Perform work within applicable standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Development of new technologies to continually improve machine up time and operability.
  • Support installation, tryout, and debug of tooling and equipment at the assembly plant.
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook



  • Bachelors of Engineering or a Technical Diploma Essential (Technologist Classification)
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in manufacturing/automation with machine controls design, robotic controls, and programming
  • Knowledge of the OH&S Act and Regulations, NADCA, CSA and ANSI standards
  • Ability to lead / manage engineers on project teams
  • Strong communicator in the English language, both written and oral
  • Excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Extensive knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, Catia, UG)


Work Conditions:

  • 50% Office environment, 50% Vendor Plant floor (PPE required)
