Job Summary:  Supervises and coordinates activities of associates engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, and in fabricating metal parts and tools.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from four year college or university, five to ten years of related experience/training, and three to five years of leadership experience in a maintenance position, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Certification
  • Excellent electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Must have a good knowledge of the English language
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, time management, decision making, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Must be able to prioritize and self-motivate
  • Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949

 

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as a member of the Crisis Management Team for Martinrea Jonesville's Integrated Contingency Plan
  • Serves as alternate emergency director for Martinrea Jonesville's Integrated Contingency Plan
  • Assists in environmental management responsibilities
  • Provides direct supervision to electricians, preventative maintenance team, maintenance associates, and maintenance technicians
  • Maintains and analyzes the history of all actual maintenance work performed to implement continuous improvement and cost savings
  • Directs maintenance associates in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment
  • Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment
  • Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery
  • Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment, as it relates to routine, non-routine, and preventive maintenance for plant and equipment
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to ensure timely repair of equipment to meet production schedules
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or maintenance personnel
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists maintenance associates in solving work problems
  • Manages maintenance team to complete building/facility maintenance projects and activities
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate associates to achieve work goals
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance plans and direction of the maintenance planner in the scheduling, execution, and recording of the preventative maintenance activities
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments
  • Performs activities of workers supervised
  • Monitors and reviews budget items and expenditures
  • Reviews all accident reports and ensures corrective actions are instituted
  • Any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the Maintenance Manager
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

 

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Work Environment:

  • 30% Office Environment, 70% Plant Floor (PPE Required)
