Job Summary:

  • The CI Specialist is responsible to identify and improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes to improve efficiencies, reduce cost and increase customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

  • Train manufacturing operations in protocols ensuring optimal results
  • Alert Management of potential risk factors associated with all aspects of the operation and provide solutions
  • Ability to work independently and draw from experience in all aspects of manufacturing and program leadership
  • Plan, co-ordinate, lead, and participate with various multi-disciplined teams addressing objectives associated with the manufacturing and assembly process, productivity, volume outputs, scrap and rework, quality, safety, and delivery commitments to optimize a profitable operation
  • Risk management, ensuring risk is minimized and the company reputation is protected
  • Responsible for providing guidance to manufacturing facility to setup documentation in accordance with accepted automotive and customer standards
  • Oversee efficient lay-out of the manufacturing process, work flow in accordance with lean methodology with the objective of eliminating waste
  • Detailed analysis of quotations providing detailed presentations to management recommending potential sources
  • Responsible for the development of in-house manufacturing processes, equipment, fixtures and tooling
  • Develop and provide guidance to error proof all aspects of the manufacturing and operational process
  • Maintain a current knowledge of the overall aspects of the Manufacturing process, new technology, and processes, attending training courses, trade shows and industry conferences as required
  • Conduct studies and implement project plans to improve production efficiencies, cost reductions and reduce manufacturing costs
  • Conduct detailed studies providing a detailed action plan and execution for cost reduction, quality improvements and optimization of the manufacturing process to increase profitability
  • Ability to work well under extreme pressure and able to utilize problem solving techniques effectively
  • Respect and understand the customer/supplier relationship
  • Ensure manufacturing and assembly processes comply with pertinent health, safety and environmental legislation, practices and procedures.
  • Responsible to protect own health and safety by working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures
  • Supports in the development of Process flow charts, Control Plans, PFMEA, DFMEA and Proto-type builds
  • Support in the development of Preventative Maintenance Program for all manufacturing process equipment
  • Trouble shoot process/equipment related issues and fine tune process to eliminate process-induced defects
  • Review processing methods and provide continuous development of manufacturing techniques that will improve in- house capabilities
  • Ensure good housekeeping for the department and work area is tidy and organized at all times
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives on all aspect of the job
  • Knowledge of the Quality Operating Standards - Competency Level 3 includes all advanced understanding of the processes and functions as they relate to the position as determined by the leadership team.

Required Education and Experience:

  • University degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or Business combination of education and experience will be considered
  • 5-10 years of manufacturing experience in automotive industry
  • Clear and precise understanding of automotive OEMs practices and expectations
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with leading organization for leadership and competency
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Working knowledge of automotive customers
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Travel required
