Job Summary:

The Quality Manager provides leadership and direction to the Quality department, in regards to quality of product, to meet or exceed customer requirements.


Required Qualifications: 

  • Community College courses in a Quality related discipline; Quality Assurance Certificate (ASQ) preferred.
  • Strong communicator in the English language, both written and oral.
  • Minimum 8 - 10 years' experience in Quality position in automotive industry.
  • 5 years at a managerial level in any of the following (Interior / exterior Trim packages, OEM's, Stamping, Molding, Fluid Systems, Class A materials).
  • Thorough knowledge of blue print reading and interpretation of geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Proficient in the understanding and use of Statistical process control (SPC).
  • Trained in the ISO/IATF 16949 quality management systems and internal auditing. Knowledge of the Core Tools (APQP, MSA, PPAP, SPC, FMEA).
  • Ability to use various computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to track expenses and run projections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office.
  • Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • High level of time management and ability to lead a large team.



  • Responsible for managing quality roles; Quality Supervisor(s), Quality Engineers, Quality Inspectors and Technicians, to ensure the appropriate training, coaching and discipline is given to ensure high performance of tasks to meet scheduled requirements.
  • Establishing and implementing department goals and objectives to advance continuous Improvement.
  • Oversee quality related problems:
  • Address all quality related problems and provide prompt resolutions and recommendations so as to minimize production interruption
  • Coordinate problem investigation and completion of customer specific corrective action requirements.
  • Control of further processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
  • Verify the implementation of solutions
  • Ensure proper planning and control for all areas of responsibility in Quality department (e.g. labor, overtime, equipment, travel, etc.).
  • Ensure that Quality System (IATF16949), Advance Quality Planning, control processes and PPAP documentation, is up-to-date, robust and effective.
  • Monitor Business KPIs targets and report status during management meetings.
  • Leading Continuous Improvement activities (APQP, DOS, Kaizen, Lean projects, PFMEA reviews) so that failure modes are controlled and product quality continuously improved.
  • Lead all relevant Quality and cross-functional activities, with particular emphasis on the roll-out, support and appropriate verification of new product launches.
  • Ability to compare budgets to actual expenditures and make financial projections. Plan to reduce COPQ.
  • Liaison with customer to ensure customer is supported; travel to customer when required.
  • Participate in internal quality audits to determine the effectiveness of the quality system. Ensure that production identification, traceability, process control, packaging instructions, first off/ last off procedures are all being adhered to.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements to throughput, inventory and operational expense.
  • Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).


Working Conditions: 

  • 60% office, 40% plant floor (PPE required).


Physical Demands: 

  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to work with push pull forces of up to 50lbs. or less.


Health and Safety Responsibilities: 

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
