Job Summary:

This position will support the research, evaluation, and implementation of improvements to the distribution and manufacturing processes throughout the Dayton Operations Facilities. This position is responsible for providing vision and support for implementation of 5S and facilitating tactical Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts. This position reports to the Shared Services Manager. The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.

  • Directly facilitate and participate in ongoing process improvements through the use of techniques such as Kaizan, 5S and other lean tools
  • Partner with the operations team to develop effective training tools and resources specific to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop and implement a best-in-class continuous improvement strategy
  • Work with various department stakeholders to build a continuous improvement environment to support an ongoing program of change
  • Establish metrics to monitor improvements (time, money, etc.) as compared to original process
  • Partner with team members to develop new support materials based on revised processes; to include training, reporting and system enhancements
  • Actively monitor project risk to foresee and identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions
  • Complete post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved and to ensure that improvements can be made for future projects
  • Work with the leadership team to develop and deliver training on each new project

Required Education and Experience:

  • University degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or Business combination of education and experience will be considered
  • 5-10 years of manufacturing experience in automotive industry
  • Clear and precise understanding of automotive OEMs practices and expectations
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with leading organization for leadership and competency
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Working knowledge of automotive customers
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Travel required
