• High School diploma or equivalent with minimum 2 years of hands-on Supervisory experience in a related field required
• Experience in Tier 1 automotive a plus
• Good working knowledge of assembly, production and welding operations
• Excellent English Communication Skills (oral and written)
• Good knowledge of basic computer programs
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong leadership and problem solving skills
• Familiar with lean manufacturing, 6S and the Occupational Health and
Safety Act.

  • Assumes responsibility for and ensures operators follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Daily 6 S tasks are completed
      • Mandatory rotation of jobs.

    • Assumes responsibility for and ensures operators follow all quality policies and procedures in accordance with Martinrea, North Vernon's Business Operating Systems.

      • Ensures change overs validated prior to start of production.

      • Monitors production to targets hourly and coordinates required support from business unit counterparts to complete root cause analysis for misses in targets.
  • Reviews daily safe launch data and implements countermeasures for improvement from defect findings.
    • Attends end of shift Business Unit Meetings and reports out on area of responsibility KPIs

  • Monitors daily employee time and attendance and reports discrepancies to human resources.
  • Performs subordinate employee evaluations per the review process.
      • Monitors employee start and stop times for start-up, breaks, and end of shift
      • Approves, authorizes employee requests for Vacation, PTO, leave, etc...
      • Assists with employee training and ensures training matrix information is correct.
  • Performs in conjunction with the Business Unit Manager and Human Resource representative, employee counselling's.
  • Fosters Safety first culture

    • Makes recommendations for cost savings ideas and continuous improvement activates
    • Supports Kaizen and Jishuken activities when required.


    Working Conditions

    • Majority of work will be on the Plant Floor (PPE required)
    • Some office environment
    • Involves handling or working near industrial chemicals or vapors such as solvents, cleaning agents and flammable liquids
    • Involves operating or working near moving mechanical equipment


    Effort/Physical Demands

    • Constant communication with employees, peers, and management
    • Overtime as required

    • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures
