REPORTING TO: Asisstant General Manager

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide support to the Materials Department through the oversight of all inventory movement within the plant and ensuring optimal inventory levels on hand at all times
  • Oversee outgoing shipments to ensure customers are receiving all products according to their purchase orders and material releases.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Education:           Minimum high school diploma or GED

                          Course taken in Inventory Control /Management (preferred)

Skills:                  Good communication and interpersonal skills

                           Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

                          Well versed in inventory management / ERP systems and understanding of inventory transaction flow

                          Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks

                          Ability to identify and solve problems

 

Experience:         One year experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably automotive)

                          Experience in an inventory control position

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare inventory analysis of days on hand and compare to target inventory levels and communicate variances to Management and Purchasing / Production Scheduler

  • Review days on hand report for overstocked material work with purchasing to develop an inventory reduction action plan
  • Oversee all inventory functions and corresponding ERP transactions including:
    • Vendor receipts
    • Internal warehouse receipts
    • Internal warehouse transfers to production
    • External subcontractor shipments and receipts
    • Transfers in and out of inventory quarantine/hold cage
    • Customer Shipments
    • Scrap adjustments
    • Cycle count adjustments
    • Etc.
    • Cycle count raw materials and other critical manufacturing consumables
    • Cycle count finished goods part on occasion to assess inventory accuracy
    • Leadership role in physical inventory counts
    • Prepare shipping pick-lists based on communications with production scheduler
    • Oversee bill of ladings for all shipments and submit to finance for invoicing daily
    • Monitor and reconcile inventory levels in ERP with third party warehouse weekly
    • Communicate inventory transfers to external warehouse by reviewing production needs with Production Scheduler and assessing on hand inventory levels
    • Review hotlist and investigate MMS issues related to inventory, prepare analysis and submit to Martinrea Central in a timely manner
    • Prepare inventory reporting requirements on Martinrea Central
    • Participate in weekly corporate materials meeting
    • Ensure raw materials and finished goods are consumed/dispersed based on FIFO and update inventory location monitors daily
    • Review common inventory adjustments/processes and identify areas for continuous improvement and create revised work instructions where necessary
    • Special tasks as required from Caledon Management or Corporate Materials Department
    • Attend daily management meetings
    • Conduct Layered Process Audits or other Internal Audits
    • Backup/support production scheduler / purchaser in their absence
    • Special tasks as required from Caledon Management or Corporate Materials
    • Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or co-workers place in an unsafe condition
