Job Summary: Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, as the Human Resources Co-op Student, you will support the Human Resources department, as well as Operations, in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, process improvement and Health & Safety.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant Bachelor's Degree or Postgraduate diploma program in Human Resources Management
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated excellent communications skills: verbal, written, listening
  • Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships with & service the customer (internal)
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments and to work to deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently individually, as well as in a team
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and aid in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of hourly and junior technical/professional roles
  • Review and update current recruiting materials; identify opportunities for improvement
  • Develop HR standard work, as directed by the HR Manager
  • Provide assistance on Health & Safety initiatives to Health & Safety Specialist
  • Prepare and participate in employee communication meetings
  • Assist employees with general questions and inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c))
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

Work Environment:

  • 80% Office environment, 20% Plant floor (PPE required)

Health and Safety:

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
