Job Summary: This role provides leadership and direction to the Maintenance and Tooling Departments

Required Education and Experience:

  • College courses in Maintenance related discipline; Millwright or Electrical certificate of qualification is preferred
  • Knowledge of tool and die processes and tool room equipment
  • Minimum 8 - 10 years' experience in Maintenance/Tooling position in industry;
  • 3 years at manager level
  • Must have experience in stamping facility
  • Strong communicator in the English Language, both written and oral
  • High level of time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Strong technical and problem solving skills
  • Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee all maintenance and tooling related functions
  • Oversee PM program/schedule that ensures machine robustness along with the coordination of production schedule needs
  • Responsible to oversee all tool room functions including, but not limited to: planning, ordering of tool room components, quoting and arranging die buyoffs, and scheduling tooling builds
  • Ensure all equipment and tools are maintained properly to avoid interruption of production and to minimize unnecessary downtime
  • Analyze machine downtime to identify and correct mechanical problems
  • Ensure availability of replacement parts for key manufacturing equipment to minimize unnecessary machine downtime
  • Maintain maintenance related records
  • Coordinate with outside contractors on equipment repairs and to source the most effective repairs and upgrades cost
  • Provide input and ensure completion of CI projects
  • Ensure proper planning and control for all areas of responsibility in Maintenance and Tooling departments (e.g. labor, overtime, equipment, travel, etc.)
  • Participate in maintenance/tool room recruitment activities, and ensure performance evaluations are completed for all team members
  • Maintains clear written records
  • Creates and ensures a safe and secure work environment
  • Achieve goals and objectives that are set out each year by the General Manager
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements to throughput, inventory and operational expense
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

Health and Safety:

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
