Job Summary: responsible for application of electro-deposition coatings (E-coat) and monitoring of e-coating line to ensure it is always running at upmost efficiency.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of paint automotive experience
  • Knowledge of Chemistry and Chemical analysis (preferably with an Engineering or Science Educational background)
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment
  • Wet lab experience, good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • E-coat process experience (preferably in an automotive parts manufacturing environment)
  • Experience related to E-coat Quality Testing - i.e., Thickness, water resistance, grid adhesion,
  • Experience working with Acids and Chemicals and managing inventory of Chemicals and Paint
  • Basic E-coat Maintenance experience
  • Excellent attendance
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be a Team Player
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required
  • Ability to work on different shifts as required
  • Ability to maintain records in an organized and tidy manner
  • Support Quality System, Health, Safety and Environmental Management System requirements
  • Must be willing to perform tasks that are of reasonable request by Supervisor
  • Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employees or your co-workers are being placed in an unsafe condition

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for providing daily paint processing support for the manufacturing team by investigating quality and process concerns through root cause analysis techniques
  • Provides engineering support to validate and implement new paint materials as required
  • Produces coated surfaces by determining coating requirements; preparing surfaces; applying Coatings and maintaining the ecoat line
  • Responsible to maintain safe conditions by following guidelines and procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous chemicals and waste
  • Maintains the physical E-Coat line at the highest level consistent with optimum quality and Production output. To include washer servicing, chemical control, machinery servicing and part Auditing process
  • Responsible to maintain good housekeeping on work area and the ecoat line at all time
  • Ensure the Lab is maintained at world class standards. All documentations and reports are complete on time and Up to date
  • Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental
  • Management Systems, Human Resources policies and Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Conduct lab analysis on chemical baths, such as cleaner, pretreatment, and coating chemicals, and make adjustments as necessary by using Titration process
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, productivity, quality, customer service, cost reduction and safety requirements

Working Environment:

  • 80% plant floor, 20% office (lab) (PPE required)

Physical Demands:

  • Require communication with employees, peers and management
  • Lifting and pushing as needed, up to 20 lbs

  • Must work in accordance with health and safety regulations, company rules, plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or certain clothing as required by the company.
  • All employees are prohibited from walking under a suspended hoist, cranes or forklifts.
  • All employees must follow all LOTO procedures
  • Comply with all environmental requirements including our recycling program.
