Job Summary: Provide support to Supply Chain Operations department by ensuring Raw/Component inventory levels are within stated parameters, ordering of raw materials/components and On-Time-Delivery of material to meet Production Schedules.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills; customer service skills
  • Courses in inventory control are an asset
  • Experience and familiarity with CMS is an asset
  • 3 - 4 years of experience in a similar role; experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong Coordination and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve issues from a variety of known options

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain ERP system integrity and ensure suppliers on time delivery of parts and services in EDI
  • Prepare yearly, monthly forecasts to be sure for inventory optimization and seamless production.
  • Distribute the weekly forecast as firm order to material and components' suppliers and monitor daily releases for all materials ensuring on-time delivery, including service
  • follow up the release of supplier deliveries, manage the shortages and expedites to avoid oncost
  • Managing inventory to meet plant and corporate objectives
  • Schedule inbound and outbound freight (Interface with the 3PL provider)
  • Manage relationships with suppliers
  • Resolve supplier invoice discrepancies (price or quantity)
  • Investigate Inventory Discrepancies, determine root cause and implement corrective actions (may need to assist with CMS inventory entries)
  • Report Daily on inventory discrepancies
  • Issue weekly releases to suppliers based on MRP from CMS via EDI
  • Work with production and purchasing to ensure inventory and supplier release accuracy. Work with scheduling to ensure on time delivery of materials
  • Take leadership role in quarterly physical inventories
  • Provide direction to other employees to ensure accurate production reporting
  • Support FIFO initiatives through supplier incoming material in material in house
  • Coordinate the purchasing of production materials
  • Responsible to act as a back up to the Inventory Control Analyst and perform duties as necessary.
  • Review inventory level of purchased material are within the department/company goals for inventory turns
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, productivity, quality, customer service, cost reduction, safety and housekeeping
  • Quantitative Measurements:
    • Achieving and maintaining raw material turns identified in budget
    • Maintaining inventory accuracy of over 95%

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c))
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

Working Environment:

  • Both office setting and production environment
  • 80% office, 20% plant floor (PPE required)
  • Flexible hours as required

Physical Demands:

  • Require communication with employees, peers and management
  • Lifting and pushing as needed
  • Ability to work on computer for long periods of time

  • Must work in accordance with health and safety regulations, company rules, plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or certain clothing as required by the company.
  • All employees are prohibited from walking under a suspended hoist, cranes or forklifts.
