Job Summary: Operate presses from 500 ton to 1000 ton, while ensuring quality and productivity standards are met and complete all necessary documentation.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate hand transfer and progressive die operation and/or perform other duties according to specific job instructions (i.e. coil replacement)
  • Assisting set ups as required; create first off/ last off
  • Follow work instructions and verbal directions to meet targeted production quotas
  • Ensure that only quality parts are passed onto the next operation, notify supervisor of quality related problems immediately
  • Complete all necessary documentation (production reports, quality alerts etc.) correctly and in a timely manner. Ask for assistance as required
  • Maintain a safe work environment through adherence to all safety policies, rules and procedures established by the company, and initiate corrective action to any unsafe conditions
  • Maintain an attitude of cooperation and teamwork
  • Initiate continuous improvement actions in all aspects of press operations
  • Participate in problem solving all operational problems
  • Assist with housekeeping, scrap removal in the press area during the shift
  • Meet or exceed all quality requirements
  • Meet or exceed all production standards and expectations
  • Assist in training all new or incumbent employees
  • Comply with all Federal, Provincial, and Local safety and environmental regulations
  • Continually seek ways to reduce waste and costs in all aspects of the press operations
  • Perform all other assignments as directed by management

Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of Grade 12 Education, or equivalent
  • Strong communicator in the English language
  • Strong attention to detail and dexterity
  • Capable of carrying out standardized procedures
  • Knowledge in error proofing devices such as part sensors and press tooling preferred
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Minimum 2 year experience in a press machine operation
  • Experience with measuring equipment
  • Ability to follow standardized work instructions and problem solve technical issues
  • Strong coordinating and organizing skills
