Job Summary: Manage the Martinrea quality system and ensure that plant meet all quality system requirements to maintain the customer certification.


Required Qualifications/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required (can substitute with equivalent of 10 years of experience and training)
  • 3-5 year of proven supervisory experience in a quality related field
  • Proven experience in structured training
  • Proven experience in establishing auditing structure and auditing experience
  • Statistical process control experience and able to demonstrate knowledge
  • Control plan development experience
  • Automotive Quality related experience
  • ASQ certified
  • Program management experience
  • Excellent communication, analytical problem solving, planning, team orientation and people skill developer
  • Good organizational skills and management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude
  • Ability to manage effectively under any situation
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to understand CMM reported data
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
  • Control plan development

Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example to develop, coach and manage all members of the Quality department team in order to meet overall company and quality department objectives
  • Responsible for TQM (Total Quality Management) through the ongoing development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the QMS (Quality Management System) for the plant, in compliance with TS16949, Customer, Corporate, and other applicable guidelines and compliance requirements
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a detailed Quality Control Program with related procedures and control plans utilized within the manufacturing facility, and by suppliers, to ensure that product quality is consistent with all applicable customer design specifications and other requirements for all current and project phase production programs
  • Develop, manage, and maintain processes and documentation within the overall scope of the QMS related to APQP (i.e.: FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, etc. ), Statistical Process Control, Measurement Systems and Calibration, Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Supplier Quality Management, Internal Auditing, and Control of Non-Conforming Product
  • Responsible to plan and manage inspection, testing, and auditing activities related to quality and reliability for the complete process chain
  • Identify, document, and take action upon defined quality process metrics/ data to ensure action is taken when objective is not achieved to both minimize and eliminate repeat occurrences
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and drive effective problem solving through methodologies such as 8-Step, 8D, 5 why, etc.
  • Document and manage the QMS using integrated software systems deployed, such as SAP, MQ1, and IGear
  • Responsible for relationship development and maintenance with customers and suppliers, and is responsible to resolve customer and supplier complaints related to quality issues
  • Work across all departments within the plant to ensure quality systems are implemented, maintained and effective
  • Responsible for meeting plant financial objectives by developing, tracking, and managing Quality department annual budget
  • Acts as Quality Management representative for the plant
  • Maintain and improve the performance of quality ratings with the customers
  • Assure the solution of quality problems in products
  • Provide support I the implementation of new projects
  • Manage data collection system, ensure timely and accurate data at all times
  • Manage containment activity on a daily basis
  • Offer ideas of for improvement of all systems and help implement them

Working Conditions

  • 70% office, 30% plant floor (PPE required)
  • Frequent requirement of handling heavy operation equipment

Effort/Physical Demands

  • Constant communication with employees, support departments and management
  • Overtime as required The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or touch
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Compliance with Occupational safety sections of Act.
  • Must report all accidents and near misses to your Supervisor
  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures.
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or certain clothing as required by the company.
  • Must wear all designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
