POSITION SUMMARY:         CNC Operator/Set-up/Programmers at MJ Manufacturing are primarily responsible for the production of parts and assemblies that meet customer requirements in quality and output in a safe fashion. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Company rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by the company
  • Ensure all tasks are performed in the allotted time provided
  • Set-up, program and operate machines to meet customer requirements in output and quality
  • Operate the CNC machine to produce parts as per quantity and nest requirements
  • Verify the quantity accuracy prior to closing the job
  • Ensure machine is running at maximum efficiency and quality
  • Assure that 1st off/1st Part is inspected and meets Quality Assurance requirements when necessary
  • Completion of data entry and/or paperwork as required
  • Interface with Quality and Engineering
  • Maintain proper MJ Manufacturing housekeeping standards
  • Must notify lead hand and/or supervisors of all disfunctional and/or unsafe equipment or work practices
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisors and Managers 

COMPETENCIES (Job Knowledge/Skill, Education and related experience) 

  • Experience with Metal Fabrication
  • Ability to use Tape Measure, Vernier and other measuring tools
  • Ability to work independently or with supervision
  • Capable to lift up to 50lbs or 23 kilograms from ground to table level
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Minimum 2 years experience in MasterCAM. Mastercam Programming Proficiency is a must.
  • Ability to do all shop math functions associated with setup and inspection procedures.
  • A thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with machine software, such as Mazak and Fanuc Controls, is required
  • Experience on CNC Vertical Mill or MachineCenter, CNC Lathe or TurningCenter. Manual lathe and milling machine an asset
  • Experience with Mazatrol and G Code
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret; product drawings, technical requirements, customer specifications and program code for major CNC machine controllers.
  • Ability to develop manufacturing process sequences and prepare efficient CNC programs
  • Ability to develop new tooling concepts and implement them into production.
  • Able to lift, load and handle various size production parts up to and including 50 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Must be computer literate
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)Thorough "hands on" knowledge of metal cutting including feeds and speeds, metallurgy, tooling and cutters, fixturing, geometric tolerancing, and statistical process control.
