Job Title:        Production Supervisor Weld/Press Assembly

Department:   Operations

Reports To:     Press Manager/Assembly Manager

 

 

SUMMARY

Manages, supervises, and coordinates activities of hourly production workers, both direct and indirect, to produce welded assemblies, on time, and meeting the quality requirements of Martinrea and our customers. Provide direction to other support personnel, as required, for the weld department.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the TS16949 and ISO 14001 Operating Manuals as they relate to the job function.
  • Serves as a member of the Crisis Management Team on your assigned shift for Martinrea Tupelo Emergency Response Team.
  • Decision maker to verify conformance to part specifications.
  • Manages weld production and support personnel to achieve KPIs for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Productivity, as well as housekeeping.
  • Maintain visual management boards and conduct daily communication meeting with team.
  • Implements production schedules and assigns weld and support associates.
  • Interprets company policies for workers, enforces safety regulations, and documents workers performance in support of disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends Continuous Improvement ideas to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and elimination of waste.
  • Evaluates training needs and completes training and employee evaluations as required.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains attendance and production records.
  • Consults with other supervisors to coordinate departmental activities.
  • Communicates production issues to appropriate support departments
  • Performs other Management/Supervisory duties as assigned by supervisors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related management/supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with automotive manufacturing and quality systems and their applications in a production environment, knowledge of customer engineering, quality and delivery requirements, understanding of MIOSHA and other applicable laws, a proven record of continuous improvement in quality, productivity, safety, and housekeeping, strong interpersonal skills and computer literacy desired.  

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
