Job Summary: this role is responsible to work with all departments on the development of new products including all quality aspects of PPAP, prototypes and on-going product development.  

Knowledge and Skills (Education):

  • Post Secondary Education (Community College or Undergrad Degree) in the one of the following:
    • Engineering
    • Manufacturing
    • Quality
  • Minimum 5 - 7 year experience in similar role with quality engineering experience on new programs launches
  • Prior experience with ISO/TS 16949 processes
  • Prior experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning, Production Part Approval Process submissions, Geometrical Dimensions & Tolerance, Flow Diagrams, PFMEA's, Control Plans, Statistics and fixture development based on part GD&T.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis using various problem solving techniques including 8D / 5 Phase / Drill Deep.
  • Proficient in the understanding and use of Statistical process control (SPC) in stamping and welding processes
  • Proficient in the use of measuring equipment (i.e. venires, micrometer, height gauges, etc.)
  • Strong communicator in the English language, both written and oral
  • Computer proficiency (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • High level of time management with ability to meet deadlines and multiple demands.
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate cross-functional team meetings.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work efficiently in a team environment.
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer need

Major Accountabilities

  • Works on Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) with cross-functional teams on the development of new and existing components to meet critical customer deadlines.
  • Implements new procedures and processes in prototype stages of product launches to comply with the customer specifications
  • Coordinates, prepares and implements new programs fixture builds including cost, design reviews, timing and quality to meet customer and Martinrea standards.
  • Responsible for development of PFMEA's
  • Develops appropriate key dimensional control points on the new programs in conjunction with the program manager and customer.
  • Develops and maintains the Control Plan documentation and procedures.
  • Plans and prepares the PPAP submissions for new products and engineering changes to meet customer deadlines and specific customer requirements (MRD's and Run @ Rate)
  • Lead problem solving efforts relating to launch quality issues and production products
  • Conduct capability studies and gauge R & R analysis
  • Contribute and assist in variability reduction, process improvement and continuous improvement activities
  • Create quality documents in compliance with the company's quality system manual and quality system standards
  • To review and make recommendations for the disposition of non-conforming/suspect products in a timely manner and ensure formal corrective actions are answered within customers guidelines
  • To notify internal and external customers of potential problems and make recommendations for resolutions
  • Contribute and participate in the Quality System and the Environmental System to meet customer requirements and the international standard
  • Assist with the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing quality system requirements
  • Ensure time management is executed in the completion of all projects/ duties
  • Tracking customer satisfaction measurable and communicate to appropriate personnel and/or management
  • Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).

Working Conditions:

  • 50% office, 50% plant floor (PPE required)
