Tool and Die Makers maintain physical plant and Stamping equipment to ensure 100% production up-time; maintain, preventative maintenance and build robust tooling for equipment; and safety of all manufacturing Stamping equipment and facilities in the plant. 



Develop dies, tools and processes as required
Build replacement tools and dies for production use as required or internally capable
Provide assistance, guidance and advice to Operator as required
Liaise with internal departments for design input, fabrication and modifications to tools and dies
Ensure timely completion of repairs, new dies, tools, etc, as required so production is not interrupted
Professional and timely completion of tool room projects consistently
Timely and organized response to tooling related problems that impact production requirements
Ensure preventative maintenance programs are done on tools and dies based on assigned schedules
Trouble shooting of tools and record keeping of tool development and troubleshooting
Follow MCPC when working on production concerns, complete paperwork to close protocols
Follow all lock out/tag out procedures as required
Supply own tools as required to perform duties
Responsible to maintain good housekeeping on work area and die parts at all times
Contribute to the continuous improvements initiatives on all aspect of the job
Assure that 1st off/1st Part is inspected and meets Quality Assurance requirements
Completion of data entry and/or paperwork as required
Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Company rules, policies and procedures
Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by the company
Maintain proper MJ Manufacturing housekeeping standards
Must notify supervisors of all dysfunctional and/or unsafe equipment or work practices
Identify and report any hazard(s) in the workplace
Report any accidents, injuries requiring first aid, health care, lost-time injuries, Occupational diseases or incidents
Use equipment, materials and machinery only as authorized
Support and contribute to the Quality Systems and Environmental Systems requirements
Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition
All other duties as assigned by Supervisors and Managers
Ensure that adequate stock of tooling spares are in place to facilitate continuous production
Run press as requested (Refer to press operator job description)
Report material, equipment, and tooling defects and shortages to supervisor immeditately
Train apprentice toolmakers as required
Machine parts to print as requested 

COMPETENCIES (Job Knowledge/Skill, Education and related experience) 

Tool and Die Maker certificate and/or equivalent 5 years of related work experience or equivalent
Good English Communication Skills (oral and written)
Thorough knowledge of blue print reading and interpretation
Thorough knowledge of operating tool room and production equipments (grinding, milling, lathe)
Possess good mathematical and mechanical aptitude
Knowledge of GD&T
Excellent trouble shooting for dies, cutting tools (end forming, crimping and bending an asset)
Ability to utilize problem solving techniques
Respect and understand Customer/Supplier relationship
Ability to work independently with minimal direction and/or with supervision
Ability to work closely with other department (Production/Engineering/Quality)
Must be willing to work flexible shifts and hours
