Job Summary: Responsible for maintaining, controlling and issuing stock of production tooling, spare components and accessories for production and related equipment.

Knowledge and Skills (Education):

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Courses in inventory control is an asset
  • 3 4 years experience in similar role
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong Coordination and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve issues from a variety of known options

Major Accountabilities:

  • Maintains inventory system database for Toolcrib items, spare parts and tooling for production and related machinery, while ensuring efficiency
  • Performs monthly physical inventory of spare parts and tooling
  • Maintains and organizes the Toolcrib area, so all spare parts can be located and easily accessed
  • Identify critical parts/components based on their lead times to avoid production down time and set min/max accordingly
  • Orders and expedites with Purchasing to maintain stock items
  • Follows up with suppliers for arrival of the ordered parts on time
  • Completes requisitions for items required for re-order
  • Maintains MRO Data system to ensure accurate inventory numbers.
  • Collects parts ordered from receiving cage and receives into CMS and distributes to maintenance WO shelf.
  • Any non stock parts/components ordered are received and given to requestor to complete job/work order
  • Restock electrical & weld supply vending machines
  • In critical situations such as current or future shortage of parts, delayed deliveries, sudden increases of usage of parts, etc. that could cause production shutdown, must inform the Supervisor and department Manager verbally. In critical situations, informs on a daily basis the status of the stock and confirm upon arrival of the parts
  • Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).

Working Conditions:**

  • 75% Office environment, 25% Plant floor (PPE required)

Decision Making and Authority:

  • On a functional level the following position will oversee this role
  • Production Supervisor(s), Operations Manager, Materials Manager
  • Authority of decisions:
  • Items to order to ensure sufficient supply (subsequently signed off by Manager)
  • Items to count and priority
  • Identify critical situations and communicate up
  • Recommendations:
  • Ways to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency of layout
  • Improvements to safety, productivity and quality
  • Quantitative Measurements:
  • Maintaining inventory of over 1000 expendable items
