Required Qualifications:

  • College diploma in Tool and Die making and/or equivalent technical diploma
  • Licensed Tool and Die Maker certification
  • Good English Communication Skills (oral and written)
  • Minimum 8 years of Tool & Die work experience in a related field
  • 3 years of Supervisory/Lead Hand experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of computer software for Windows
  • Excellent organization and leadership skills
  • Critical thinker and attention to details
  • Thorough knowledge of blue print reading and interpretation
  • Thorough knowledge of all tool room equipment
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and interpersonal skills


  • To direct and coordinate daily work and production repairs on die and tooling to prevent unnecessary interruption of production operation
  • Liaison with internal departments and suppliers for design input, fabrication and modifications to tools and dies as required
  • Provide timely update on all project matters, provide resolutions and recommendations to meet project deadlines
  • Oversee and manage the predictive and preventive die repair program and tool room related spare parts/wear parts program
  • Timely and organized responses to equipment and tool related problems that impact production requirements
  • Coordinate with suppliers and contractors on existing tooling issues and repairs as required
  • Ensure all personnel are following the Quality System and conform to quality standards
  • Ensure LPA is performed as per schedule, follow up to close all outstanding issues within a reasonable time frame
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure no interruption of production requirements due to inefficiency of tool room personnel and processes
  • Manage tool room manpower effectively within the scheduled financial budget
  • Provide regular constructive feedback and communication to subordinates formally and informally on company policies, work procedures and work standards etc. and to ensure adherence to all policies and procedures at all times
  • To train, develop, mentor, direct and discipline subordinates to ensure a productive, efficient and competent workforce to meetscheduled requirements in a safe environment
  • Participate in the evaluation of apprentices via the Tool Maker Apprenticeship Program
  • Responsible for ensuring all training within the department is completed in a timely manner and documented
  • To make recommendation to Senior Management and Human Resources Manager on the confirmation and/or disposition of employees within the probationary period
  • Maintain a system of communicating ongoing departmental performance to subordinates on a regular basis
  • Ensure good housekeeping for the department and that all areas responsible are tidy and organized at all times
  • Ensure subordinates follow Company policies on Health, Safety & Environment and PPE requirements

Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives on all aspect of the job and to encourage all subordinates to do the same
