Job Summary:

The role is to work on process design and improvement for manufacturing to increase productivity and improve manufacturing flow.

Knowledge and Skills (Education):

  • Post Secondary Education (Community College or Undergrad Degree) in the one of the following:
    • Engineering
    • Manufacturing
  • 5 7 years experience in similar role
  • Ability to work independently, and draw from experience
  • Knowledge of technical specialties, capable of working with moderately complex procedures
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Powerpoint)
  • Extensive knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, Catia, UG)


Major Accountabilities:

  • Consistently develop, assess and implement continuous improvement projects in relation to current or future project planning.
  • Improves efficiency of process through; cycle time analysis and time studies.
  • Analyze data and identify root causes of defects. Provide corrective actions in order to improve a particular process or product yield.
  • Oversee ergonomics of the plant and guide Ergonomics team to make improvements to work centres.
  • Complete safety walks daily and address any issues
  • Make improvements to the production process by using 5S, Root-Cause Analysis, and Poka-Yoke methodologies to improve the quality of products, reduce scrap, and eliminate waste.
  • Solve the issues that are reported in LPAs on a daily basis
  • Assist in developing P.F.M.E.A. / F.M.E.A. / P.C.P / and P.F.D's
  • Update program documentation, write reports, work instructions and procedure manuals as required
  • Daily 5S Implementation - ensure cells are clean and schedule is being followed
  • Update and maintain plant layout
  • Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization
  • Develop quotation of assembly equipment (welding and assembly) to give to estimators or program managers
  • Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).

Working Conditions:

  • 50% Office environment, 50% Plant floor (PPE required)

    • Assists in implementation of CI's and/or quotation of processes to win jobs
