Job Summary: 

Provides and direction to operators and set-up employees, ensuring that safety, production, quality and quantity standards are maintained.  

Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum High School diploma
  • 3-5 years related experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably automotive)
  • Knowledge of Quality standards IATF 16949

Essential Functions:

  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Mentor and guide the team unit
  • Provide hands-on leadership
  • Ensure that the production area of responsibility is producing a good quality part at appropriate rates
  • Analyze scrap data to identify and correct manufacturing problems
  • Ensure production area meets or exceeds labor standards
  • Ensure the attainment of daily production schedules
  • Maintain production related records
  • Provide continuous improvement ideas
  • Oversee and ensure employees are provided with training on all aspects of the job
  • Communicate and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Initiate corrective actions to the Managers and follow up on recommendations for correcting manufacturing defects
  • Conducts Operator performance appraisals and issues employee coaching/disciplines
  • Ensure that all machine/equipment are fully manned when scheduled
  • Ensures pre-start inspections are conducted and makes sure that all areas are tidy and organized
  • Assists in the production planning process
  • Ensures plant security
  • Respecting and understanding of the Customer/supplier relationship
  • Adopt a common sense approach to identifying and addressing problems and control weaknesses

Work Environment:

  • Majority of work will be on the Plant Floor (PPE required)
  • Some office environment

Physical Demands:

  • Constant communication with employees, peers, and management
  • Overtime as required
  • Shift work

Health and Safety:

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
