Job Summary:

  • Performs complex activities for the development, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods.
  • Knowledge of internal hardwire and logic standards, optical designs, design logic, camera logic and PLC logic.

Knowledge and Skills (Education):

  • Bachelors or Master's Degree in Industrial Technology Management or equivalent of experience and education.
  • Advanced knowledge of G D & T
  • Advanced knowledge of SPC

Major Responsibilities:

  • Generating and documenting vision feasibility studies both in the lab and in the field.
  • System Architecture including investigating new approaches to vision related problems
  • Reviewing specifications and standard practices. Included in this are the internal hardwired and logic standards, as well as, general specifications and scope of work.
  • Design requirements that include; establishing optical designs, generating system mechanical layouts, generating a sequence of operations, reviewing cycle time studies and, generation of design packages, design logic, Camera logic, PLC Logic and Entering descriptions.
  • Debugging

  • Complete Quality Defect Report
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere
  • Provides technical guidance and liaison to product operations, assists the supervisor on new techniques and may assist in the determination of causes of rejected parts and their disposition.
  • Ability to operate and have knowledge in using manufacturing software.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and demonstrate the ability to determine critical parameters and develop process controls.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be able to read and understand assembly drawings and technical notes.
  • Demonstrated ability with technical writing. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to management and technical staff audiences. Ability to stand in front of small to large technical audiences and provide training.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound written and oral communication skills; must be able to write and understand routine reports, follow oral and written instructions, and speak effectively.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop and crouch on a regular basis
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time regularly.
  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time occasionally.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed regularly to repetitive motion, bending, lifting, reaching, pushing and/or pulling.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near powered motor vehicles, power tools, and automated assembly fixtures.

Working Conditions:

  • 40% office, 60% plant floor (PPE required)

Decision Making and Authority:

  • No staff responsibility, however; the incumbent must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization in order to be able to impart technical/process knowledge on a basis consistent with the needs/experience of the party being addressed.
