Job Summary: This role provides leadership and direction to the Maintenance department

Knowledge and Skills (Education):

  • Community College courses in Maintenance related discipline; Millwright or Electrical certificate of qualification is preferred
  • Strong communicator in the English language, both written and oral
  • Minimum 8 - 10 years' experience in Maintenance position in automotive industry;
  • 3 years at manager level
  • Must have experience in stamping facility
  • Proficient in Microsoft office*
  • High level of time management and organizational skills* *
  • Ability to lead a large team across three shift* *
  • Strong technical and problem solving skills*
  • Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations

Major Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for managing Maintenance positions; Electricians, Mechanics, Millwrights, Fabricators and PM Coordinators , to ensure the appropriate training, coaching and discipline is given to ensure high performance of tasks to meet scheduled requirement
  • Oversee maintenance related functions:
  • PM program/ schedule that ensures machine robustness along with the coordination of production schedule needs
  • Ensure all equipment and tools are maintained properly to avoid interruption of production and to minimize unnecessary downtime
  • Analyse machine downtime to identify and correct mechanical/electrical/programming problems
  • Ensure availability of replacement parts for key manufacturing equipment to minimize unnecessary machine downtime
  • Maintain maintenance related records
  • To co-ordinate with outside contractors on equipment repairs and to source the most effective repairs and upgrades cost
  • Provide input and ensure completion of CI projects
  • Ensure proper planning and control for all areas of responsibility in Maintenance department (e.g. labour, overtime, equipment, travel, etc.)
  • Responsible for Facility maintenance; Plumbing, HVAC, AC/Heating, Lighting, Exhaust Filters, Chiller System, Sprinkler System, Compressor and Dryer, Landscaping etc.
  • Creates and secures a safe and secure work environment
  • Achieve goals and objectives that are set out each year by the General Manager
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements to throughput, inventory and operational expense.
  • Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).

Working Conditions:

  • 20% office, 80% plant floor (PPE required)

  • Oversee department of approximately 25 direct reports across 3 shifts
