Job Summary: Responsible for Preventative Maintenance and Continuous Improvements on presses and repairs on all production/facility related equipment.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Must have obtained Millwright Certification of Qualification (C of Q)
  • 8 10 years experience in similar role Punch Press experience
  • Ability to work independently and draw from experience with minimal supervision
  • Ability to problem solve and follow standardized practices and procedures
  • Mechanical aptitude; thorough knowledge of machine print reading and interpretation.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform necessary mechanical repairs, modifications and/or adjustments of all production equipment, as required so that quality parts are produced and production is not interrupted
  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance of all production equipment, including punch presses
  • Repair and monitor compressors and ensure the compressor room is kept clean and free of debris
  • Install and arrange mechanical equipment as required
  • Complete routine paperwork as required and ensure the proper labeling of equipment
  • Performs work in the mechanic's skill area such as fabrication, welding, assembly, cutting, burning and pipefitting using proper techniques and applicable tools
  • Troubleshoot machine failures
  • Update and maintain PM checklist based on findings and history of the equipment
  • Diagnose complex equipment failures and provide solutions; such as dismantle, repair and reassemble etc. in a timely manner to ensure minimal interruption to production
  • Work from drawings, verbal instructions or sketches to meet intent goals
  • Responsible to maintain good housekeeping on work area and machine parts
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).
  • May be required to work weekends and/or overtime hours as per supervisor request
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

  • On a functional basis this role has the following reporting relationships:
  • Indirectly reports to Production Supervisor

  • Quantitative Measurables:
  • 15 Preventative maintenance per month
  • 3-4 work orders per day
  • Daily monitoring of approximately 20 machines

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent requirement of handling heavy equipment (operation)
  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention to surroundings
  • Job requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and/or climbing
  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to work with push pull forces of up to 50lbs. or less

Health and Safety:

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
